How the Cornerstone Online Self-Pace Courses Work
Q. How are the courses structured?
A. Cornerstone Appliance Training offers a series of self-paced, online, interactive training courses. All of our course material is accessed online. There is a text book that we recommend (not required, just recommended)that you purchase from Amazon (the link is in the membership area).
Our online course is very convenient for those that have busy schedules, cannot afford to leave home for 3 weeks or more, or don’t want to spend $3000 to $4000 paying for a 3 week course.
Another benefit to the online course is; when you are ready to study, all you need is an internet connection and a computer or device, and you can get started. Each of our courses consists of a series of modules. And each module consists of chapters of instruction. All of the modules/lessons have a quiz we recommend you score an 80% or higher before advancing to the next chapter/module.
You will know immediately if you answer a question incorrectly and you will receive a final score at the end of each quiz.
Q. What about Hands On Training?
A. The most important work in appliance repair is done by common sense and learning appliance repair basics. The key is understanding appliance technology and knowing how to troubleshoot and repair appliances using our course, appliance basics and electrical testing.
We show you how to get the hands on training you need from the comfort of your home. This is the easiest way to get experience and much more affordable at that. There are plenty of free resources, such as videos and service manuals, that can give you the disassembly information that you need. You will receive the other hands-on skills you can need as you “learn by doing,” and we give you a number of resources on this at the Cornerstone Appliance Membership.
Q. What if I need more help on a lesson?
A. No Problem. We are here to help with ANY question you have. Submit your thoughts or question(s) in the “suggestion box” in the membership on the module you’re working on and we will answer your question. We will provide all the the coaching and mentoring you need to become a master at troubleshooting and repairing appliances.
Q. How long do the courses take? How long do I have to complete them?
A. Since all of the coursework is self-paced, the length of time to complete the courses varies with each student. However, the average student that work at a steady pace, you can complete Fundamentals in about 2 weeks to a month, and the other technical courses in about a 2 to 3 weeks each. If you are taking Fundamentals full-time, it can be completed in a matter of a couple of weeks.

Our Suggestion on Becoming an Awesome Technician
Never Stop Learning… Always continue learning & educating yourself on Appliance Repair & Troubleshooting
- Visit the Cornerstone Appliance Training Membership at least once a week
- Get a solid foundation on how appliances work
- Become well versed in troubleshooting, diagnosing circuit boards and fault codes
- Take a 2 to 3 days a week and watch videos on different appliance brands (especially when you are new to the appliance repair industry)
- Get familiar with common rinse and repeat repairs (ie. dryer won’t start, washer won’t drain or spin, refrigerator is not cooling, etc…)
