Is there Too Much Competition to Start a Business in Appliance

Are you looking to start an Appliance Repair Business, but are worried there might be too much competition?  This happened to me when I first start my own business almost 11 years ago.  Let me show you how I handle the competition in my area and made my appliance business very successful from day 1.

How I View Too Much Competition? How to Dominate Your Competitors?

Most people view Competition as a “Bad Thing”. Actually it is a “Good Thing”. The more competition the more customers that need your services. All you have to do is conduct your business as we outline in our Appliance Training Course.

Most of the emails or phone calls start like this;

Hello Chris,

I have been looking at your videos or I have been wanting to start a business for a long time. The appliance repair business sounds like exactly what I need.

I am just feeling stuck in a dead end job and really don’t enjoy it. I would to do something that will allow me to assisting and helping people and I am more hands on fixing things kind of person.

I just don’t have the courage to just get started and do what I enjoy. Your videos are encouraging. I feel because there are a quite a few appliance repair company’s services in my area that there is no room for me. I understand that I have to find a business for what I can do. What do you think? Any advice would be super. Have a great day.

So many have asked this same question so I decided to share some of my thoughts in this article.

How I View Competition

When I first got started as an appliance repair technician almost 11 years ago, I was also concerned about the competition. I remember searching online for Appliance Repair & Service Companies in my area and I saw a few of them who were already established & doing exactly what I was planning to do. They also had great looking websites and it looked very professional

The sight of all those well established businesses was a little bit intimidating, and I remember the thinking; how am I going to get my name and company in front of potential customers?
At the time, I felt that this was going to be an extremely hard task to compete with the large companies as well as the small businesses on their level. They just knew so much more than I did.

I decided to go for it anyway, and I’m so glad I did. I soon found out that there was still plenty of demand for appliance repair services. Not only that, but I had seriously overestimated the competition and how they were running their businesses.
The mistake that most people make when they are thinking about starting a business is; They view competition as a “bad thing”. Actually, it is a “good thing”. If there is competition, that means there is a “supply & demand” for that service.
If there is was no competition for the business you are looking to start, you might want to start another business.

Why You Shouldn’t Be Concerned About Too Much Competition?

#1 – Your Competition is Not as Great as You Think.
Sure, there might be 50 to 100 appliance repair & service companies in your city and that may seem overwhelming to you. But the reality is that very few of these services are offering a quality service. Most of them are not operating their business on a professional level for instance; Poor Customer Service, Lacking in Professional Appearance, Providing poor or lousy service, not arriving on time as they should, don’t know how to greet the customer or don’t have the tools they need to start the job, etc.…

One of the complaints that I hear a lot when going behind other appliance repair companies (especially the big ones, Sears, Mr. Appliance) is; They were NOT professional, They were late and didn’t call, they didn’t look like they knew what they were doing, etc.…

Most of those companies are operating their businesses lacking in professionalism, which leaves the door “wide open” for you! This will allow your company to step in and provide the professionalism this customer deserves. Not only will you get that customer, but also their family members and friends. I can’t begin to tell you how much my business grew simply by referrals & repeat customers.
.
#2 – Every Appliance Repair & Service Company is Different.

Most people think all appliance companies are the same and operate on the same principles. Nothing could be further from the truth! As you know NOT all McDonalds restaurants are the same. They are supposed to be the same, but I know in my area there are some McDonald’s restaurants have very poor service. While the others are very professional and really good service and food is hot.

If you just use McDonalds as an example about just how different each one is. How many of them are the same? Chances are there are at least 30 in your city and they all have their little nuances that make you prefer one over the other.
This is the same with appliance repair & service industry. Not only are there a thousand different services that you can offer, but there are a thousand ways to offer those services.

#3 – It only takes a 3 or 5 Appointments a Day to Make an Awesome Income

All you have to do is make 3 to 4 (you can make as many as you like) to make a really good living. Once you learn the basics (don’t worry we will teach you everything you need to know). The average income is; Daily = $300 to $500, Monthly = $5500 to $7500, Yearly = $65,000 to $80,000 (1st Year).

Your goal is to get good quality customers to keep you really busy. And those customers will continue to use your services year after year and as I said earlier, they will refer you to everyone that they know.

If you don’t know by now, “Referrals” are the cheapest and best forms of “Advertising” you can receive… Period!

There may seem like a lot of appliance companies in your area. However, with appliances breaking daily and the big companies not being able to get to the customer when they want them repaired. You are company that will solve their problems “now”. You just made a new customer very happy and stole one from your competition… I love it!.
For example, in my city there are over 170,000 residences! It wouldn’t matter if there were 100 Appliance Repair Companies in my area, NO Way this business will EVER get saturated!

Technology is constantly growing and will continue to do so. However, very few appliance repair businesses have learn tap into this awesome resource to make their business more enjoyable and more profitable. You won’t have that problem… we will show you how.
